On May 19, 2000 took place the official opening of the PPJ
Cyclopark and the Cyclothon for the CT Scan project. At 9:00 a.m.,
groups of cyclists accompanied by more than 500 students coming from
all over the Pontiac for this special day started from Bristol to
Shawville, from Campbell's Bay to Shawvile, from Fort-Coulonge to
Campbell's Bay and from Waltham to Fort-Coulonge.
Mayors of the municipalities started the Cyclothon and cutted
symbolically the ribbon.
Between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 a.m., the
cyclists who started from Bristol and Campbell's Bay arrived on the
Shawville Fair Ground where a free lunch and drinks await them.
Participants who started at Fort-Coulonge and Waltham finished their
tour by bus until Shawville.
In the arena, numerous of kiosks allowed to the visitors to discover
the tourists and cultural attractions of the Pontiac. Zazou, the clown and
the PPJ Station master gave a really appreciated show with humor and
magic. Zazou's steam bicycle-tandem creates a sensation!
Elected members and some bicyclists are gone for a tour with the
amazing Vélobus (for 35 people)
At 1:00 p.m. took place the official opening and the speeches of
the PPJ Cyclopark. The winner of each school received a bicycle.
The day finished with a lunch and a wine degustation.
This big bicycle feast was a real success and allowed to each one to
discover the Cyclopark PPJ bicycle trail and its attractions. The
main participants have a lot of memories of the beautiful Pontiac region
and everyone promised to come back and to discover the 72 km of
trails.
