The most impressive thing about the Pontiac is the diversity of
scenery, the villages, the fauna and the flora. The climate and the quality of soil lands,
the combined with the influence of the powerful Ottawa River, makes our region a sanctuary
for peace and nature. We invite you to discover different areas that are special in their
own way.

The Settler
The Pontiac is very lucky because it has a very rich architectural and
natural history. The log houses, the old farmhouses, and the wooden fences tell the story
of the first inhabitants of this region, the woodsmen and the settlers. Each town has its
own style. The red brick houses in Shawville, the stone houses in Portage-du-Fort, the log
houses in Nicabeau and the trading post in Fort William. Each town is distinctive and
that's what brings the past of the Pontiac into the present.
