A rest area is a place along the trail where you
can take a break. A rest area now has at least some bike racks, picnic tables,
benches, garbage, and later on, there will be some wilderness camping areas. The rest areas are
located on the outside of the villages and the towns so that you can relax and recuperate
at regular intervals. They are usually located where you can see the natural beauty and
enjoy the tranquility of the area. The rest area may also be situated close to an
interpretation area.
